Scientific discussions in-person at Single Molecule Workshop

Scientists from all over the world came to Berlin to share knowledge

85 scientists attended PicoQuant's 27th International Workshop on „Single Molecule Spectroscopy and Super-resolution Microscopy“ from September 7 to 9 in Berlin. For many participants, it was the first in-person event since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, a greatly appreciated chance to share and discuss exciting scientific developments face to face again. The topics presented in 33 talks and on 36 posters ranged from novel imaging modalities to in vivo protein studies, from new microscopy instrumentation to emerging single-photon emitters.

Congratulations to the winners of the student awards:
Cindy Close - Docking-Site-Mediated Photostabilization for Super-Resolution Imaging
Oliver Stach - Dissecting the complex dynamics of protein-RNA interactions with single-molecule fluorescence
Michael Isselstein - Linker Molecules Convert Commercial Fluorophores into Tailored Functional probes during Bio-Labeling

For the first time, attendees voted for the best invited lecture as well: congratulations to Viktorija Glembockyte, who presented „DNA origami tools for single molecule sensing“ during the Young Stars Session.

A special program highlight was the launch of PicoQuant's new Single Photon Counting Confocal Microscope Luminosa. Product Manager Dr. Evangelos Sisamakis and Head of Systems Development Dr. Felix Koberling presented Luminosa to the public for the first time ever on Wednesday afternoon. Excitement was high, live demo slots on Thursday and Friday were quickly booked up and we were happy to receive a lot of positive feedback afterwards.

Fluorescence microscopy on a new level

A new system makes quantitative time-resolved fluorescence microscopy accessible to a broader range of scientists

“Today, I need the help of my physics post-doc, when I want to exploit the capabilities of my single photon fluorescence microscope” says a prominent group leader in Biochemistry. “Your new system with this judicious technology would release him to do his actual work.” That statement was given when developers from PicoQuant in Germany asked the professor for his feedback on their latest prototype of a new single photon counting fluorescence microscope. In the meantime, the prototype has become a full product named Luminosa.

Coming in September: Luminosa, our new Single Photon Counting Confocal Microscope

Efficient, flexible, and with highest data quality

In September 2022, we will launch our latest innovation for microscopists: Luminosa, our new Single Photon Counting Confocal Microscope. Luminosa pairs highest data quality with remarkably simple day-to-day operation. It easily integrates into any researcher's toolbox and becomes a time-efficient, reliable companion for scientists starting to explore the use of time-resolved fluorescence methodologies as well as for experts wanting to push their limits.

You can learn more about Luminosa at several events in September and in online presentations in October. Read more on our Luminosa page.

Call for Papers: 27th Single Molecule Workshop

September 7 – 9, 2022, in-person in Berlin

Registration is now open for our 27th Single Molecule Workshop. It will take place September 7 – 9, 2022 as an in-person event in Berlin. Join us for an exciting and stimulating conference by either giving a talk, presenting a poster or even without any presentation. As always, we will be awarding a “Best Student Talk” prize worth 750 Euro. Additionally, we will be hosting a free special event during the workshop. On this occasion, we will reveal our latest innovation in time-resolved confocal microscopy.
