The SML 828 is a special module for the PDL 828 "Sepia II". It is targeted at application that require more power than available from a standard LDH Series laser head, such as diffuse optical tomography (DOT) / diffuse optical imaging (DOI).
The SML 828 includes four individual laser diodes on a common control board that can work in either picosecond pulsed or continous wave mode. In pulsed mode, an internal calibration of the four lasers diodes for each power level and repetition rate ensures that their output is temporally synchronized. Spatial synchronization is achieved by coupling the output into a common multimode fibre with a 300 µm core diameter.
The final output pulse of the SML 828 features pulse widths in the picosecond range, but with a much higher output power than a standard laser head. The SML 828 is currently available at 730 nm and 780 nm - other wavelengths are available upon request.
